friday philosophy

sometimes i come across a quote that bears some kind of significance and i want to share it with you dear readers.  sometimes it's based on where i am in life or a certain event, sometimes a quote just reminds me of a friend, or sometimes it makes me think.  it's called 'friday philosophy' and i'm gonna keep it up weekly. (or try to!)

i love dogs.  i can't wait until mike and i have the opportunity to get a dog.  i have little neice and nephew doggies out there and they always brighten my day. it's funny how as you get to know dogs and their personalities, you can really see their wheels turning.  their quirks come out and you really get to know them and how they think.

the whole angel or devil on the shoulder of the picture above is so true...dogs are so tempted to misbehave.  case in point...yesterday.

my friend jen's daughter, hannah, turned 2 yesterday (happy birthday hannah! auntie loves you!), and while they were out and about doing the birthday routine of cake and presents and visiting people, there was a bit of activity at home.  (can you tell where this is going?)

if you love dogs, have had a dog, do have a dog...when you see what i'm about to share with you, you will be shocked, then you will laugh, and then you will laugh some more.

ready?

so while my friend jen was out with her daughter, the two dogs, lola and louie, were home.

lola is a gentle soul.  she'll slobber all over your face with 100% love and affection.  i mean, who couldn't love this dog that is so gentle even when hannah (as a baby) is trying to rip her face off?

see what i mean?  gentle soul.

her brother louie, on the other hand, has some naughtiness to grow out of.  louie is a sweetheart and very lovey, but he's only a year old.  he's still a hyper puppy.  he's still learning about his boundaries.

and yesterday, he blatantly overstepped those boundaries.  the devil on his shoulder won.

jen came home to this:

yikes!  right?

that's all of the insides from the left side of that leather couch.  you see there's stuffing and wood pieces strewn all around the room.  huge mess!

so, last night, mike and i went to help jen and her husband remove the half-eaten couch from their house.  we spent quite awhile just laughing about the situation because if you can't laugh at it, what can you do?  (other than buy a new couch.)

you may wonder how it's so clear that it was louie and not lola...well, lola just wouldn't do that, for one.  and for two, louie couldn't help himself, even while we were removing the couch from the house, by trying to chomp down on more of the stuffing.

i can just imagine what it looked like in the house as it happened.  lola, sitting on the sidelines saying to her brother, "you're being a really bad boy and i'm being a really good girl.  you're gonna be in troooouuubbbbblllleee!!!

so, the devil got the best of louie yesterday.  (too bad he ruined the perfectly good leather couch and not the one pictured above with hannah and lola that the cat had already done a number on.)

i hope everyone's friday, especially you my dear friend jen, is better than yesterday, and definitely better than walking into your living room to find the couch in a million pieces.

happy friday!

=) andrea
